Linear Matrix featured as a sponsor of The Block again!

We were been invited back to the show this year as a sponsor for our second time coming. Check out this season of The Block to see how Linear Matrix and the boys (Mitch and Mark) came up with the products and plans for the custom lighting and backlighting used in their kitchen.

On this season of The Block, Linear Matrix worked closely with the contestants Mitch and Mark to bring some more light into their dark kitchen! Linear matrix backlit the boys’ Caesarstone kitchen splash back and island bench front with the Circadian Rhythm Tunable White - Backlighting Modules. They also had Linear Matrix’s virtual windows installed on their boundary wall, to simulate natural light and scenery. The windows are also using Linear matrix’s Circadian Rhythm Tunable White - Backlighting technology. These two lighting features illuminate the whole room and are able to change the mood completely with a touch of a button, due to the colour temperature and brightness control!

The last appearance we made was back on The Block 2016, where we helped Julia & Sasha come up with a new and exciting feature to use for their kitchen in the Challenge apartment (House of the Future). The illuminated island bench we helped create used our CCTW Backlighting Module, being able to change the mood of the room completely at the touch of a button, or with a voice command.

The Block 2016

Sasha & Julia were on the hunt to outdo even themselves when it came to the kitchen in the Challenge apartment (House of the Future).
Once they saw what we could do for them, they were overly excited to have our lighting implemented into their kitchen!

The plan was to backlight the Front and sides of the island bench with the unique colour temperature controlled (CCTW) LED modules from Linear Matrix Australia. This will allow the LED’s to not only vary the brightness of light, but to also allow you to vary the type of light, from a Warm White to a Pure White depending on the mood or occasion.

In conjunction with Freedom Kitchens, Glowing Structures, Caesarstone, Smart Home Automation and Linear Matrix Australia, the process was put into action to deliver a unique illuminated kitchen island that will excite anyone that sees it.

The result of this challenge is telegraphed clearly by the judge’s comments and response. An almost perfect score from all of them!

Glowing Structures were responsible for the design & detailing of the joinery lighting such that, an even, homogeneous glow was achieved, enhancing the natural beauty of the Concetto Stone panel, expressing the natural characteristics and feature of the precious material.

Linear Matrix Australia provided the LED backlighting panels which are the cutting edge of technology. The slimline LED panel provides a consistent, even glow which was fixed to the joinery carcass. The dimmable drivers supplied by Linear Matrix provide the ability to have the lighting dim and change colour temperature, all with a simple voice command. An extremely detailed technical solution to provide the user with the simplest of control.
